Page 1 of 8 I like many other Vostro 1500 and Inspiron 1520 users experience static from my headphone jack of the laptop. The noise is from poor shielding within the laptop. Thankfully, a user at notebookreview.com B2TheEYo, has come up with a solution that seems to work for many users. This is a very ambitious endeavor, let me tell you, and if you break any part along the way, dell will hold you responsible and not warrant the part. So proceed with caution.

Tools: - Duct tape for taping some cables together temporarily. - Electrical tape. - Tiny screw drivers, preferably, 2 varied sized Star and 2 varied sized Flat heads. NOTE: Apply some tape around the tip of one of the flat heads so we can pull parts apart without damaging. - Brushes to clean the dust off - Like the cracks of the keyboard. - A razor to cut the tape nicely with. - A cloth to clean the sweat off you're forehead, and to clean up the chassis later. - Pliers to get those screws that fall in the small cracks. Don't have all those, time to improvise. First, pull the battery out, and unplug everything. Once everything is unplugged and the battery is removed, press the power button. That will kill any remaining power in the machine.
