Page 1 of 4 If you want to upgrade your Dell Vostro's 1500 system RAM, you may be surprised to find out that it is not as easy as most other laptops are. This is because only one module is located underneath the laptop while the other is under the keyboard. Here is a quick tip with pictures of how to upgrade the ram in a Dell Vostro 1500. (This guide is the same for Inspiron 1520 also.)
My Vostro 1500 came with 1gb of 667mhz ram. I wanted 2gb but dell wanted $150 to upgrade it. I found on newegg.com a 2gb pair for under $80 which is nearly half the price. However, it is a little difficult for most novices to install. So here are some pictures to help walk you through the process. What I bought to upgrade the ram: Standard 2gb DDR2 667mhz Corsair Value select ram (2x1gb sticks)
The tools used: 1 Phillips screw driver and 1 dell plastic tool (can be substituted for a flat head screw driver)
Flip the Laptop Over
Remove the battery and AC adapter
