I own and love a T-Mobile G1 like millions of others. However, the phone began to develop a creaking noise when the screen was closed around the bottom right side of the screen. Thankfully I found an easy fix for the problem. It only takes a minute or two to remove the creek.

All one needs to do is locate the bottom right hand corner of the phone and open it part way. There you will notice a small thin strip of plastic. This is the place where the screen rubs against the base causing the noise. We need to remove this. I took a small knife and removed it.

Here is a picture taken from the T-Mobile forum where a member there did the fix. Of note, his is really obvious and all scratched up looking, where I did a clean job on mine and it is not visible. So take your time and do it right with a steady hand.

This is all it takes, just scraping down the plastic a little bit to remove it. Others have tried putting a piece of tape over the location, but it is more of a temporary fix. Reoving the plastic seems permanent.
