My first impressions of the new operating system are very good.  For the purpose of this article I have the 64bit version of Windows 7 installed in a VMware workstation on a 64bit Vista host. I allocated Windows 7 to have a 24gb hard drive and 2gb of RAM. Here is a walkthrough of the installation and some of the new features of Windows 7.

When first booting the DVD we were greeted with a “Starting Windows” screen.

Next we had an option of what operating system we wanted to install. Since this is the public beta version, we could choose all of them so I chose Windows 7 Ultimate.

Then the installation began.
